How to join ?
- We have a Teen Ventures Launch event on July 27th, 2024. It is an excellent opportunity for students to attend and understand the organization’s work and program. You can join the program itself for Free by filling out the Google Volunteer Form.
How long is the program ? Is the program Free ?
- The Teen Ventures program is a youth empowerment initiative from the Non-profit organization Empower And Help. It runs from September to July. The Teen Ventures Program itself is free, but we do run campaigns to raise funds to publish the magazine.
Who can attend the program?
- Anyone attending Middle School or High School can attend the program.
What happens in the program ?
- Students come together to create, collaborate, edit, design, advertise, market, publish, print, distribute, and launch the 100-page Teen Ventures Magazine. Students are also invited to the Teen Ventures Magazine Launch Party.
What are the benefits of the Teen Ventures program?
- Publishing a magazine involves diverse skills that can be valuable in various aspects of an individual’s life and career. Some skills they can work on are Content Creation and Editing, Graphic design and layout using Canva, Project management, Communication skills, Marketing and Promotion, Budgeting, Problem-solving, Collaboration and Teamwork, Digital Skills, Critical thinking, and Analysis.
- The magazine has a published masthead page with the Teen Ventures participants' names and titles.
- Students also get a chance to explore other volunteering opportunities within the Empower And Help organization.
Are the meetings remote or in-person?
- Weekly meetings are held remotely every Sunday at 7:45 PM EST for the entire program. We start meeting in person towards the end of the program to prepare for the launch event, which will take place close to where the event will take place. In-person meetings are optional.
Do participants get volunteer hours?
- Students who commit to the year-round program are requested to log volunteer hours diligently .
How many hours are volunteers expected to spend weekly?
- A volunteer is expected to attend weekly Sunday meetings from 30-45min. Also, they will need around 1 hour weekly to work on the magazine. The program itself is one year long.
Can we participate in the program as Guest Writers?
- Yes, we do accept guest articles. The article selection committee makes the final decision on publishing the article. We may only be able to publish some of the accepted articles. You can email us at contactus@empowerandhelp.com for more information on guest article submission details
How can we receive copy of the magazine ?
- The Teen Ventures physical copies are available for purchase at www.empowerandhelp.com. You can also download a digital version for Free.
